This little one had an allergic reaction to a new brand of litter and developed some hot spots. They were minor at first, but then the 4th of July fireworks kicked her anxiety into high gear and… here we are.
She has definite feelings about the collar, me, and the horse I rode in on…
It’s a great metaphor for life and entrepreneurship, actually.
We all have little issues going on in the background of our lives, but as long as everything else is going relatively smoothly, those issues stay minor and easy to ignore.
Trouble is, adding in just ONE extra stressor can send us spiraling into unhealthy territory – which shows up as burnout.
When we’re in the throes of burnout, taking care of our own businesses gets bumped to the bottom of the priority list so we can focus on putting out the fire in front of us… and that means it hits us TWICE.
First it drains our health and energy.
And then, because we stop working on content creation, offer development, marketing, networking – all the critical things that keep clients coming into our pipeline – it drains our pipeline of new client leads.
By the time we realize our pipeline is in trouble, maybe we’re feeling a little desperate…
Cue the too-good-to-be-true ads for challenges promising to help us “create and launch an offer in just 30 days!!” and telling us we’re “just one [fill-in-their-solution-here] away” from the riches that will create a massive shift in our life!
**The subtext: we’ll also somehow have more time to take care of ourselves and start feeling better, so we’ll finally have the bandwidth we need to be the amazing unicorns we know are inside.**
There’s a good chance you’ve bought one of these offers before… only to discover they come with two or more hours of content to get through every day – and homework that was clearly designed for people who can afford to work on a challenge full time.
But that’s not us, right? Remember, we’re still trying to serve our clients at a high level while all this is going on!
So we end up either burning the candle at both ends trying to do both things (and doing neither of them well)…
Or dropping out mid-challenge – and then beating ourselves up, thinking there must be something wrong with us for wasting money on yet another ‘solution’ that didn’t work.
Our creative energy is sapped – and low energy means our copy loses its sparkle and stops attracting our dream clients.
The honest truth is: We. Are. TIRED.
Instead of charging into another fast-action challenge (and making the burnout worse), we need to slow down, regroup, and take one tiny step at a time to start moving forward again.
This is exactly why I encourage my launch copy clients to start working on their copy at least 12 weeks ahead of their scheduled launch date.
Offer development, design, and tech aside (each of which is its own beast), launching your new Big Thing requires a LOT of pieces of copy!
There’s the actual funnel copy…
✒️ Sales page
✒️ Checkout page
✒️ Upsell page(s) and order bump copy, if applicable
✒️ Confirmation page
✒️ Delivery email
✒️ Onboarding email sequence
Plus any PRE-funnel copy you might need…
✍️ Lead magnet
✍️ Opt-in landing page
✍️ Confirmation page
✍️ Delivery email
✍️ Welcome email sequence
Running a webinar to lead in to your funnel? You’ll also need…
📜 Webinar script copy
📜 Webinar slide copy
📜 Webinar opt-in landing page
📜 Confirmation page

📜 Replay emails
Then let’s talk traffic – you’ll need to get eyes on your funnel…

📧 Pre-launch social media promo content
And once your cart is open, you’ll need…
📱 Launch email sales sequence

📱 Open-cart social media promo content
Running ads to bring additional traffic to your funnel? Add…
💲 At minimum two ad sets’ worth of copy
💲 Plus retargeting ads
💲💲💲 Rinse and repeat for each additional platform
And that’s all before we’ve even touched any content for your actual course or program…
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired just LOOKING at that list!
But here’s the good news:
You don’t have to do it alone.
What if you could get all of your copy done for this year’s Black Friday launch in small, bite-sized pieces that would take you 30 minutes or less per day – so you’d still have time and energy left to serve your existing clients?
(And maybe get that morning workout in because you and I both know that was the first thing that dropped off our lists when the burnout hit.)
Stay tuned… because I’m working on something new – and I’d love your feedback! Tell me: what type of offer are you planning to launch this Black Friday?
Karrie Chariton says
OMG…Black Friday already?? Definitely a great idea to work at least 12 weeks ahead and start slowly.

I know, right?? But it’s actually quite similar to running traffic through Pinterest — start early if you want to see success (without having to tear your hair out).
